Dear Louisville RDH's,
My how time flies when you are having fun! After an eight year career in the United States Army I really wanted to be a dental hygienist. I packed my car, drove all night from Colorado and settled in Louisville in 2001.
I graduated in 2003 and got a wonderful full-time job at an upbeat state-of-the-art office. I immediately became active with the local component of the ADHA and then moved to the state level within a couple of years.
Two years ago, I got an awesome part-time opportunity at the University of Louisville teaching in the clinic. I was working alongside some of the same instructors that taught me! It has been an extremely rewarding experience and has made me want to pursue a full-time career teaching dental hygiene.
Although I hate leaving Louisville, my alma mater UofL, my friends and of course my full time job, I have chosen to get a master's degree in dental hygiene from the University of Missouri Kansas City. I chose UMKC because of its reputation and it is closer to my mother and family.
Because I am leaving the following positions on the Louisville District Dental Hygienists' Association are needed as soon as possible:
President,
Vice-President
****Kathy Bleemel is not quitting, she was former vice-president. I am restructuring her job and renaming it "continuing education registrar" at her request.
Secretary
Hospitality
I will be leaving late July or early August, so I have time to bring you up to speed and can hold another board meeting to introduce all members and discuss duties. Please contact me ASAP at 418-9702 about your interest.
It has been a privilage to serve as your president of the Louisville District Dental Hygienists' Association.
Sincerely,
Mandy K. Sweeten |
